President Joko Widodo officiated the groundbreaking of a private banking office, Bank Central Asia (BCA), at the Government Center Core Area at the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) Nusantara, East Kalimantan, on Monday.
“I praised the investment made by BCA Bank. Once they entered IKN Nusantara, it showed a promising profit from the region,” the president remarked.
The president remarked that the Indonesian government is responsible for building infrastructure and facilities at IKN, including roads, electricity, and water supply.
According to Jokowi, the government is currently still focusing on the development of the Government Center Core Area (KIPP) at IKN.
Hence, for investors who build facilities or businesses outside the KIPP IKN, the government will only start building roads and other infrastructure in January 2025.
Regarding the groundbreaking of the BCA office, the head of state remarked that the investment made had certainly undergone calculations and considerations to generate profits.
“They have certainly made careful calculations regarding this investment. BCA itself is a guarantee. BCA will not invest if they do not see any profit. I really appreciate this investment,” the president remarked.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto; PUPR Minister and Acting Head of OIKN Basuki Hadimuljono; Acting Deputy Head of OIKN Raja Juli Antoni; Former Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil; and President Director of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. Jahja Setiaatmadja also accompanied Jokowi at the groundbreaking.
In addition to officiating the groundbreaking of the BCA office, the president is also scheduled to inaugurate the groundbreaking of several private investments, namely Swiss-Belhotel, Royal Golden Eagle, and Intiland.
Meanwhile, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin also inaugurated the groundbreaking of the Vice Presidential Palace at IKN this Monday.
Earlier, the two attended the first plenary cabinet meeting held at IKN. At the meeting, Jokowi conveyed that the number of investments at IKN Nusantara had reached Rp56.2 trillion (US$3.4 billion), excluding the state budget utilized.
