SUPARCO's Space4Climate Initiative leverages space-based technologies to strengthen climate resilience and action in Pakistan. Its centerpiece, the GeoAI-enabled Climate Observatory, is an integrated digital platform that merges satellite data, geospatial analytics, and climate modeling into actionable insights for policymakers, researchers, and communities. The platform monitors atmospheric pollutants such as aerosols, sulfur oxides (SOx), and nitrogen oxides (NOx); greenhouse gases including carbon monoxide (CO) and methane; as well as forests, glaciers, coastal dynamics, river systems, and land use. It also tracks climate-induced hazards, including floods, droughts, heatwaves, sea-level rise, and glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs). By fusing space-based with in-situ data, Space4Climate supports evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development, advancing Pakistan's climate agenda in line with global efforts.
