In response to a United States official's claim of a potential threat from Pakistan's missile capabilities, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tahir Andrabi, stated that Pakistan categorically rejects the assertion. He emphasised that Pakistan's strategic capabilities are exclusively defensive, aimed at safeguarding sovereignty and maintaining peace and stability in South Asia. He noted that Pakistan's missile program remains well below intercontinental range and is firmly rooted in the doctrine of credible minimum deterrence vis-à-vis India. By contrast, India's development of missiles exceeding 12,000 kilometres reflects a trajectory beyond regional security considerations and is a concern for the neighbourhood and beyond. Pakistan remains committed to constructive engagement with the United States, anchored in mutual respect, non-discrimination, and factual accuracy, urging a more measured approach aligned with South Asia's strategic imperatives to advance peace, security, and stability across the region.
