Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to assess Pakistan's current economic situation and the availability of petroleum products in light of tensions in the Gulf. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, the COAS & CDF, and Lt. Gen Asim Malik, NSA & DG ISI, along with senior government officials, participated in the discussions. The session reviewed macroeconomic indicators, energy imports and logistics, refinery output, and current fuel stock levels, and explored contingency measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products. Participants emphasized coordinated efforts across federal agencies, provincial administrations, and security services, and considered policy options to stabilize prices, manage distribution, and safeguard energy security amid regional developments. The meeting established a framework for information sharing, monitoring, and rapid decision-making to respond to evolving Gulf-related dynamics and their potential impact on Pakistan's economy and energy supplies.
