Developing nations face debt burdens that impede growth and long-term development. The Borrowers Platform is a new mechanism, backed by the United Nations, designed to help debt-distressed countries coordinate action, share knowledge, and amplify their collective voice in the global financial system. By providing a structured forum for data exchange, policy coordination, and joint advocacy, the platform aims to streamline debt relief discussions, improve access to concessional finance, and promote sustainable debt management. It enables member states to align macroeconomic strategies, track debt sustainability indicators, and learn from peers’ experiences in restructuring, risk mitigation, and transparent governance. Through greater transparency and solidarity, the platform seeks to strengthen borrower bargaining power, accelerate reforms, and improve development outcomes while preserving national sovereignty.
