The United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution renewing the mandate of UNAMA, expressing serious concern about the continued presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan and their threat to international peace and security. The resolution calls on the Taliban to take active, immediate, demonstrable and concrete measures to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, wherever and by whomever committed. It also outlines the Council's expectation that safe and secure management of weapons and ammunition be strengthened to prevent their diversion to terrorist groups. The adoption was accompanied by a national statement delivered by Ambassador Usman Jadoon, Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, outlining Pakistan's position and support for the mandate renewal and emphasizing regional cooperation and adherence to UN norms.
