Several people were killed in an explosion in Afghan capital Kabul’s Shahr-i-Naw area, the Taliban interior ministry said on Monday.
“According to preliminary reports, a number of people were killed and injured,” Interior Ministry spokesperson Abdul Mateen Qani told Reuters, adding that details would be released later.
Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran told AFP that the “explosion occurred in a hotel on Gulfaroshi Street in Shahr-e-Naw, the fourth district of Kabul city, causing casualties”.
He did not share any information about the cause of the explosion.
The Shahr-i-Naw area is home to foreigners and is considered one of the most secure areas in Kabul.
